Are you living a simple life?

Many people pride themselves that they lead a simple life. But are they really?

What about you? Do you consider yourself living a simple life? If you are, then you should be finding things easy and simple. You will not have much to complain about? Does your simple life conform to this criterion? If it does, then you are doing well. If it doesn’t, then you need to work on making your life really simple.

When used with lifestyle, the word ‘simple’ is used in the sense ‘unostentatious.’ But the word ‘simple’ has got other shades of meaning like ‘not complicated,’ ’easy to deal with’ etc.  You can make your life simple by doing several small things
  • Not getting upset over small things
  • Tolerating the mistakes and imperfections of people close to you
  • Not cursing yourself for your mistakes and shortcomings
  • Believing that things are really simple

The last mentioned line of thinking will make you feel calm and poised when you face problems. Calmness and poise will come from a feeling of confidence and faith – confidence in your ability to overcome the problem and faith in positive outcomes.

People who achieve a lot in life adopt this simple lifestyle. All it needs is to develop a mindset that you will consider things to be simple and that things will turn out to be simple.

The legendary Sherlock Holmes while solving a crime often says, ‘Elementary, Watson!’ Because he considers the process of detection to be simple, he is able to solve  mysteries considered complex by other people.

You can begin to make your life simple beginning from today. Believe everything is simple. Learn to take things easy. Cultivate the habit to be calm and confident. Be gentle and tolerant towards others especially towards people close to you and people whom you are dealing with.

Very simple thing to do! Isn’t it so?

Don't allow a break to break your habit

You have planned to do some activity on a regular basis. You begin with a lot of enthusiasm. You keep going for a while. You are happy and proud that you have been able to make this activity a habit. What more, you have been getting results. And then, there is a break, for some reason. If it is a short break, perhaps, you will be able to resume your activity.

But, what if it is a long break? The break could have become longer either because you have not resumed after a short break or because you have been unable to perform this activity due to some other factor.

Should you still resume this?

The activity can be relating to your personal development like doing exercises, attending a class or practicing some skill. Or, the activity can be related to your profession Or, it can be writing a diary or a blog post!

Whatever is the nature of the activity, a break shouldn't be allowed to become a termination. You can resume the activity any time and you should. You have nothing to lose except your guilty feelings and your perception that the activity can't be resumed after a long break.

If the activity had a positive objective, it is worth resuming. As I write this, I remember that we find it very easy even compelling to resume activities that won't be beneficial to us! Create a compelling feeling to resume your activities with a positive objective, irrespective of the length of the break.

Well, I have resumed writing this blog after a long break. I am not going to apologize for the break.  because I don't know whether I will have to do this again in future. Instead, I rekindle my enthusiasm and resume this activity.

You can break a break any time. A long break is more difficult to break but it can be broken all the same!

Five Things You Can Learn From A Pencil

  1. The pencil writes a lot including interesting stories, inspiring messages, enjoyable narrations etc. But it is not acting on its own. It is guided by a hand. In the same way, remember that all your actions are guided by God and we function as per His directions.
  2. Now and then the pencil has to stop writing. Its lead gets shorter and sometimes broken. It has to use a sharpener to resume its writing. So, it is ok if our progress is halted by some impediments or tragedies. You can emerge stronger from them by honing your skills and strategies.
  3. The pencil allows some of its work removed by the eraser. This is only to correct mistakes or rewrite something for making it better. Allowing our mistakes to be corrected by someone is not a bad thing. It helps us to improve our output.
  4. It is not the wooden exterior of the pencil that is important. It is the graphite inside which creates the pencil’s output. What is happening inside you is not important. And don’t judge anyone by their external appearances but by their values.
  5. Whenever the pencil is in action, it leaves a mark. All your actions leave  a Mark about you that can be seen by others. What more, these marks may remain for a much longer period than your existence in this world.
